ABOUT

Sylvette Jones Educational Consultant

With over twenty years’ experience of working with young people and adults in further education, Sylvette Jones, consultant and founder of TEC Wales, is an experienced consultant, manager, leader, lecturer and trainer. She works closely with training providers, awarding bodies, organisations and agencies to ensure learning is tailored to individual and group needs and curriculum requirements.

TEC Wales has Agored Cymru centre status and works in partnership with organisations to create and tailor learning packages so that learning is fully inclusive to enable employees and or service users to achieve and progress.

TEC Wales sources relevant accredited units/qualifications (awards, extended awards, certificates, extended certificates and diplomas), oversees the embedding of educational packages and provides tailored support, including assessor training and internal quality assurance training.

In addition, TEC Wales secures funding from a variety of sources to deliver bespoke learning courses.  Sylvette plans, delivers and evaluates courses ranging from skills for life, essential skills to teacher training.

Process of working in partnership

TEC Wales:

  • Supports organisations to deliver training

    • Links accredited units and/or qualifications to:

  • work being undertaken by the mentors

  • courses being delivered in house

When working in partnership with organisations, TEC Wales will:

  • Liaise with the partner organisation to select units and/or full qualifications

  • Develop corresponding resources

  • Deliver assessor training to staff responsible for delivering the units

  • Mentor assessors during delivery

  • Internally verify portfolios (mid and end stage of delivery)

  • Provide constructive feedback to assessors

  • Register individuals as learners with Agored Cymru

  • Claims certificates (full qualifications and individual units)

  • Deliver training to staff responsible for internally verifying completed portfolios.  Note: IV can only take place in house after a twelve-month probationary period

  • Support staff during the first and second round of internal verification
